This article explains how to clone/copy data from your old flash PCIe SSD to the new one using proprietary USB enclosure on MacBook Pro Retina mid 2012-early 2013, MacBook Pro late 2013-Mid 2015, MacBook Air late 2010-2011, MacBook Air late 2012, Macbook Air mid 2013-mid 2017, iMac late 2013-early 2019, Mac Pro 2013 and Mac Mini 2014.
Option One - using mac Disk utility Restore feature:
1. Insert the new SSD into the USB enclosure you received with your order.
2. Start up your Mac from your original Apple SSD.
3. Connect the USB enclosure with the new SSD installed in it to your Mac
4. Go to the disk utility
5. Using the Disk utility Restore feature, clone your old SSD to the new SSD (Note - make sure that you set old SSD as a Source and the new SSD as a Target)
6. After Restore is complete, turn off your Mac. Disconnect the USB enclosure and remove the SSD from it.
7. Open your Mac, remove the old Apple SSD and replace it with the new SSD. Mac is ready for use.
8. Install old SSD into the enclosure and use it as an extra storage or back up drive.
Option Two - using a third party cloning software:
1. Insert the new SSD into the USB enclosure you received with your order.
2. Start up your Mac from your original Apple SSD.
3. Connect the USB enclosure with the new SSD installed in it to your Mac
4. Download and install this software Carbon Copy Cloner (you get 30-day free trial)

5. Open Carbon Copy Cloner, go to Tasks and create a new task. Set SSD you want to copy as a Source and set the new SSD as a Target - this will clone your old drive to the new one.
6. After cloning is complete, turn off your Mac. Disconnect the USB enclosure and remove the SSD from it.
7. Open your Mac, remove the old Apple SSD and replace it with the new SSD. Mac is ready for use.
8. Install old SSD into the enclosure and use it as an extra storage or back up drive.
