How to find your Mac year of make, model identifier and A and EMC model number

Finding a compatible upgrade using our product finder requires you to know basic system information about your Mac. You need to know the Model (MacBook Pro, iMac etc.), Year of make (2011,2012, 2013 etc.) and Model number starting with Axxx and ending with EMCxxxx.
Please read the below article on how to find this information.

1. Click Apple icon located in left hand side upper corner. Then Click About this Mac


2. A system information window appears. Check your Mac's year of make. In this example, it is Mac Pro, Year of make 2013.


3. Click system report. A system report window appears. Locate the Model identifier (highlighted in red). In this example model identifier is MacPro6,1


4.  Axxx model and EMCxxx number are not displayed in the System information but can usually be found on the back or bottom side of your Mac. In this example it is A1481 (EMC 2630)
