How to correctly install your new Apple NVME SSD into a MacBookPro or MacBookAir
- When installing the SSD, position the SSD at approximately a 25 degree angle towards SSD slot. (Picture 1)
- Then flatten it down - note SSD is still not fully in its slot (Picture 2)
- Push the SSD with 2 fingers on SSD upper corners in the direction of arrows (Picture 3)
- You may hear a click when the SSD fits correctly into its slot and it looks like this – The SSD is fully in its slot and properly installed (Picture 4)
- Using High Sierra or Mojave USB installer, turn your Mac on and immediately after you hear chime or see the Apple logo, press and hold the Option/Alt key on keyboard, until you see the option to choose Boot drive. Click the USB installer Install macOS Mojave (in this case) to boot from it. (Picture 5)
- Now you should see Mac Utilities. Highlight Install macOS and click Continue (Picture 6)
- The installer offers to setup the installation of macOS, so click Continue (Picture 7)
- Click Agree to agree to the Terms and Conditions (Picture 8)
- The installer asks you to select which drive you want to install macOS on. Select your new SSD, in this case it is an Aura Pro X2. (Picture 9)
- Make sure the new SSD is highlighted where you going to install macOS and click Install (Picture 10)
Once installation is complete, you will go through basic settings to set up your mac, choose your language, keyboard etc... and you are ready to go.
