Things to know before upgrading RAM on Windows computers

Have you ever thought of adding more RAM to your Windows computer but had no idea what a compatible type is?

Many of our customers want to upgrade RAM on their Windows computers. Still, they do not know what type of ram is suitable for their system and how much RAM it supports. They usually email or call us with their computer details and ask for help. To solve this problem, we have created a 2-part video where you can learn how to find this information by yourself.

In general, all you need to know is the RAM speed; for example, DDR4 could be 2400MHz, 2666Mhz or 3200Mhz, and the type of ram - DIMM / SODIMM. The number of free memory slots and maximum supported ram upgrade tells you how much more you can add. Unless it is a server-type computer, it generally will support standard Unbuffered NON-ECC memory.

Example: The computer has 4 memory slots. Two are occupied by 8GB ram each, which gives it 16GB in total; two memory slots are empty - available to add more ram. The computer supports a maximum of 32GB of ram. You can still add another 2 x 8GB to make it to its maximum 32GB.

But how do you find all the information needed to buy a compatible ram? It is not as hard as it seems.
